Water line replacement continues in north Killeen.
Downtown lane and road closures will be in place Friday and Saturday as north side water line infrastructure improvement progresses.
Closures are as follows:
- Veterans Memorial Boulevard, westbound outside lane from 10th Street to 8th Street
- Intersection of Veterans Memorial Boulevard and 10th Street
- 10th Street, from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Avenue E
- Avenue G, from 16th Street to 10th Street
Closures will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Roadways will be open outside of work hours.
This work is part of a $1.2 million investment in water infrastructure in northern Killeen to replace two miles of water mains along Veterans Memorial Boulevard from 38th Street to College Street. The rehabilitated infrastructure will increase water quality and available fire flow and reduce the number of water main breaks and service interruptions. Completion is anticipated by summer.
Traffic will be detoured around the closures, and motorists are asked to use caution and obey signage.
