WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 17, 2025) – Killeen City Council members Jessica Gonzalez, Anthony Kendrick, Ramon Alvarez, Jose Segarra, and Joseph Solomon represented the city at the Association for the U.S. Army (AUSA) conference held from October 13-15 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
The conference brought together over 44,000 attendees, including community leaders, civilians, veterans, and active-duty soldiers, honoring the Army's 250th birthday.
The event featured esteemed speakers, including Gen. Robert B. Brown, President, and CEO of the Association of the United States Army; The Honorable Daniel P. Driscoll, Secretary of the Army; and Gen. Randy A. George, Chief of Staff of the Army.
Key discussions at the conference focused on the theme “Winning at the Pace of Change.” The conversations addressed the necessary adaptations in the Army’s acquisition system and soldier readiness. Secretary Driscoll emphasized the importance of improving procurement processes and enhancing public-private partnerships to support soldiers and their families. Chief of Staff George highlighted the significance of the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program, as well as the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reducing administrative burdens, allowing leaders to devote more attention to soldiers and their families.
The AUSA conference, the largest and most prestigious land power exposition and professional development forum in North America, attracted over 750 exhibitors showcasing advanced military technology. The event provided numerous networking opportunities, including presentations, panel discussions, and town hall meetings that focused on the concerns of soldiers and military families.
Councilman Solomon stated, “Public-private partnerships are vital in ensuring that our soldiers and their families receive the resources and support they need. By collaborating with local businesses and community organizations, we can create a stronger, more resilient environment that honors their service and enhances the quality of life in our cities.”
Councilman Alvarez added, “Engaging with military leaders at events like AUSA offers invaluable perspectives that illuminate the ever-changing landscape of our communities, shaping a brighter future for all residents.”
Highlighting the role of advocacy, Councilman Segarra remarked, “In an era where technology, including AI, shapes our communication, let us use these tools to amplify the voices of our Soldiers and their families. By advocating for their needs and ensuring their stories of courage and sacrifice are heard, we build a stronger, more united community that honors their service.”
The AUSA conference is crucial for educating stakeholders on the Army's priorities, innovative technologies, and challenges, while also offering networking opportunities with key decision-makers. The Annual Meeting attracts a diverse audience, including active duty servicemembers, National Guard and Reserve members, civilians, and their families, connecting military leaders, industry innovators, policymakers, and international delegations.
