KILLEEN, Texas (August 15, 2025) – The City of Killeen will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the new Killeen Fire Department's Fire Station 4 and Emergency Operations Center. The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, at 1 p.m. at 9200 Trimmier Road.
This multifunctional facility is designed to meet the needs of our growing community by improving emergency response times, updating vital equipment, and providing essential coverage to underserved areas while prioritizing the safety of all residents. With this new station, the Killeen Fire Department will be able to vacate two aging structures that have become outdated and costly to maintain.
Fire Station 4 will serve as the home for the Emergency Operations Center, a training academy, and the support services division. It will be fully staffed with 24 fully trained Fire Rescue Officers upon its opening. The project was funded by $11.9 million in grants from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and additional available funds from the FY 2023 Capital Improvement Plan, all without the need for debt issuance.
In February 2024, the City Council awarded the construction contract to MW Builders, now known as Cerris Construction, to bring the vision to fruition.
"After more than three years of planning, we are incredibly excited to see this project come to life," said Killeen Fire Chief Jim Kubinski. "This new facility enhances our emergency response capabilities and reinforces our unwavering commitment to serving our residents. This station is essential for maintaining our ISO Classification 1 rating, the highest designation for any fire department. The grand opening of Fire Station 4 and the Emergency Operations Center marks a significant milestone for our community's safety."
The new facility features a welcoming lobby, dormitories, a kitchen, a break room, a fitness center, office spaces, indoor reserve apparatus bays, training classrooms, and a conference room.
