Mayor Segarra to issue official Arbor Day proclamation.
The City of Killeen is seeking volunteers to participate in an Arbor Day celebration at Heritage Oaks Hike & Bike Trail Friday, April 30, at 9:30 a.m.
The event will begin with a short program and presentation of the official Arbor Day proclamation by Mayor Jose Segarra.
Volunteers will join in planting 14 trees along the trail to include 10 Mexican White Oaks, a Canadian Maple and an apple tree. Two Vitex trees will be planted in honor and memory of former Councilman Jim Kilpatrick and his wife Judy.
Volunteers must complete the volunteer packet available at KilleenTexas.gov/Rec in advance to participate.
The City of Killeen has been a Tree City USA since 2007 for its ongoing commitment to protecting and planting trees.
