City encourages families to make positive local impact.
Family Volunteer Day is Saturday, November 21, and your family is invited to volunteer for projects that will make a positive impact in our community.
A number of local organizations have proposed projects such as supply collections, clean-up efforts and facility repairs. Families can adopt specific projects to complete by November 19.
An opening ceremony is planned at 9 a.m. at the Heritage Oaks Hike & Bike Trail, 8001 Pyrite Drive. Participants may attend the ceremony or go straight to their project locations.
Family Volunteer Day is a program of Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. The day has been marked annually since 1990 as “a global day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods.” The local effort is organized by Killeen Youth Advisory Commission.
