Regular container collections continue on schedule.
City of Killeen Solid Waste services will suspend all recycling services effective March 19 and until further notice. Regular collection of trash containers will continue as scheduled.
Killeen Recycling Center will be closed and will not offer commercial collection or move-in box collection. All recycling trailers will be closed. Recycling services at Killeen Transfer Station will be closed.
Processing recyclable materials requires personal contact by employees with collected materials. With no automated alternative, suspension of recycling services is necessary to minimize the potential exposure of employees and the public to the COVID-19 virus.
Collection of regular trash containers is an automated process requiring no personal contact. These services will continue normally; however, overloaded containers, which are those with trash extending above the container rim, may not be serviced.
Residential brush collection is automated and will continue without interruption.
Residential and commercial bulk item collection and construction and demolition debris collection are also suspended until further notice.
For bulk items and excess waste, the Transfer Station will remain open for normal business hours. Residents may dispose of up to 300 pounds free once per month with a current City utility bill.
The City of Killeen is taking action to protect the health and safety of our employees and citizens. We recognize the impacts of these service changes and apologize for the inconveniences they cause.
