Event offers free expert advice for successful homeownership.
June is National Homeownership Month and Killeen Home Buyer Expo returns Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Killeen Civic & Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Organized by the Community Development Department as part of its Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) program and presented by Fort Hood Area Association of Realtors, the Expo is intended to provide information and resources that lead to successful homeownership. Current and prospective home owners are encouraged to attend to gain valuable insight on the entire process of owning a home from building to buying to maintaining to selling.
Industry professionals will make presentations throughout the day. Highlights include topics such as how money works, from credit to closing and knowing your credit rights.
State and federal agency representatives from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation, Texas Workforce, Department of Veterans Affairs and Environmental Protection Agency will be available to provide information and answer questions. City of Killeen representatives will provide briefings and information on public safety, public works, recreation and other services.
Local business representatives in the fields of real estate, mortgage lending, insurance, home inspection, remodeling and more will participate. They will offer one-on-one consultations about their general and specialized services. There will also be giveaways and door prizes.
