Public comment encouraged as part of plan development.
Central Texas Council of Governments will host a public meeting Thursday to present a status report on the Nolan Creek Flood Protection Study. The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. at the Harker Heights Activity Center, 400 Indian Trail.
The Nolan Creek Flood Protection Study is a regional initiative to develop a plan for flood warning, response and protection for Nolan Creek. The creek is the major watercourse in Killeen. The study began in February 2017 and is expected to conclude in August of this year. Major objectives are to collect data, identify problem areas and propose mitigation strategies.
Existing flood risk maps and preliminary flood risk reduction alternatives will be presented at the meeting. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments on the project findings in advance of the final report.
