KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 27, 2026) – The City of Killeen announced that both warming centers have been reactivated and are open tonight in response to ongoing below-freezing temperatures.
The centers will remain open until 11 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 28, 2026, to provide residents relief from the cold. Locations include:
- Friends in Crisis, 412 E. Sprott St.
- Killeen Arts and Activities Center, 801 N. Fourth St., Suite B
City policy requires warming centers to open when temperatures or wind chill values are forecast to reach 32 degrees or lower. The warming centers are open to all community members in need of a safe, warm place, including individuals without heat or those experiencing power outages. Residents wishing to donate supplies may contact the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management at em-coordinator@killeentexas.gov.
City officials will continue monitoring weather conditions in coordination with the city’s emergency management team, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and the National Weather Service. Additional updates will be provided as conditions change.
