Event consists of four activities, including a tree lighting and parade; Applications now being accepted
Killeen’s annual ‘Holiday Under the Stars,’ two-weekend event will begin Friday, Dec. 6 with the traditional tree lighting ceremony and three other events.
The mayor and Santa will be on hand to light the tree in Historic Downtown at the Santa Fe Plaza on East Avenue D. Food and craft vendors will be available.
The next morning, the Centex Race Series continues with the Jingle Bell Dash 5K at the Andy K. Wells Hike & Bike Trail on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Saturday, Dec. 14, the Festival of the Holidays will be held from 4-8 p.m. in Downtown Killeen. It features holiday-themed arts and craft vendors, food vendors and more.
The annual Christmas Parade will also be held Dec. 14, and will run through Downtown Killeen. The parade begins at 6 p.m. on West Avenue D at North 2nd Street and will run through downtown, culminating at the intersection of West Church Avenue and North College Street.
Vendor applications, Jingle Bell Dash 5K registration and parade entrees are currently being accepted.
Parade applications are being accepted at www.KilleenTexas/gov/Rec and the theme is “Whoville” this year. There is a $50 entry fee. The entry fee and the application must be received by November 20 at 5 p.m.

Preregister for the Jingle Bell Dash 5K by Wednesday, Nov. 27 at www.killeentexas.gov/centex. Same-day registration will be available at an increased rate on Dec. 2.
