Parks and Recreation, Police Department host annual events; Halloween is Thursday, Oct. 31
KILLEEN, Texas (Sept. 3, 2024) – The City of Killeen will have two annual events during the month of October for residents who participate in Halloween activities and the Killeen Police Department recommends door to door trick-or-treating from 6-8p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Killeen’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their annual Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Special Events Center from 6-9p.m. (3301 South WS Young Drive).
The event is free and will feature a haunted maze, food trucks and vendors, pumpkin giveaways, hayrides, arts & craft, free candy while supplies last and more. Festival goers are also encouraged to wear a family-friendly costume and bring their own carved pumpkin to enter our Pumpkin Carving contest.
The Killeen Police Department will also host a Halloween event. Their annual Drive Thru Trunk or Treat is on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6-8p.m. at the Killeen Police Department Headquarters (3304 Community Boulevard). Families will drive through the parking lot and stay in their vehicles while officers and staff distribute treats.
Lastly, the City of Killeen recommends door-to-door trick-or-treating be done on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6p.m. – 8p.m. Children should always be accompanied by an adult. Households that wish to distribute candy should turn the front porch lights on to indicate they welcome trick-or-treating. Trick-or-Treaters should only approach houses that have porch lights on and should never enter a home or car for a treat.
All candy should be inspected by an adult before children enjoy it. When planning Halloween costumes, parents are reminded that children’s costumes should not impair vision, hearing or movement, should be flame resistant and should be bright or reflective.
The City of Killeen encourages all safety precautions to enjoy the occasion.
