The two entities enter into a U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYs) agreement
KILLEEN, Texas (January 26, 2024) – The City of Killeen and Fort Cavazos are scheduled to sign a partnership agreement on Jan. 30, as part of the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program at 4p.m. at Killeen’s City Hall (101 North College Street).
The PaYS Program is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of private industry, academia and state and local public institutes. The U.S. Army PaYS Program guarantees soldiers job interviews after their service in the Army. The PaYS Program provides America’s youth with the unique opportunity to simultaneously serve their country and prepare for their future.
“We support our military community and have the tools to help ensure their success with our teams,” Mayor Debbie Nash-King said. “Partnering with the Army through the PaYS program is a win-win opportunity for everyone involved.”
Twenty-seven percent of the City’s 1,300 employees are veterans. Of the 524 citizens hired by the City in 2021 and 2022, 142 were veterans, recently earning the City the statewide recognition of a “We Hire Veterans” employer from Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.
The PaYS program is designed to help soldiers prepare for a career after the Army by connecting them with employers who understand the skills, discipline and work ethic that military service members bring to a business. This program is part of a long-term U.S. Army effort to help soldiers forge professional relationships with businesses and encourage business owners to look to the Army as a plentiful and reliable recruiting source. Since PaYS began in 2000, more than 1,220 employers have partnered with the program.
Participants in the ceremony include the Fort Cavazos Garrison Commander, Col. Lakicia Stokes, the Dallas Recruiting Battalion, Waco Recruiting Company and Civilian Aid to the Secretary of the Army.
