KILLEEN, Texas (October 6, 2023) – Killeen Mayor Debbie Nash-King, several councilmembers and Killeen City leaders attended the Texas Municipal League (TML) conference from Oct. 4-6 in Dallas.
They joined more than 3,000 government leaders from 300 cities and connected with leading experts in public administration to share best practices and become better equipped as civil servants.
“To be able to hear from so many profound experts and soak up all the great ideas from our fellow city delegates is an invaluable experience,” Mayor Nash-King said. “We’re all definitely coming back to our respective cities with new skills to better serve our community members.”
Speakers shared strategies and principles to help attendees make a positive difference, and capitalize on technology and trends that will revolutionize the future of municipalities.
Plenary topics included building smarter and more sustainable cities, maximizing on public engagement, preparing for an emergency, streamlining meetings to make them more efficient, public transit alternatives, innovating Public Works maintenance, meeting decorum, government ethics, understanding sales tax data and leveraging partnerships.
Sessions also included tools on preserving mental health and discussing outcomes of the 2023 Texas legislative session, the implementation of key bills, and the impact on cities.
