[ARCHIVED] Killeen Police Chief announces retirement, following 31 years of civil service

Chief Chuck Kimble’s retirement will be effective Jan. 27, 2023

KILLEEN, Texas (Dec. 6, 2022) – Killeen Police Chief, Charles Kimble is retiring from the City of Killeen, announcing his last day as Jan. 27, 2023.

 

“I began my career more than three decades ago with a passion for serving and helping the citizens of this country,” Chief Kimble said. “The law enforcement community is a tight-knit group and I know I’ll always be a part of this family.”

 

Kimble joined the Killeen Police Department on Sept. 1, 2017, after working as the police chief in North Carolina and starting his law enforcement career in Wisconsin.

 

Under Kimble’s tenure, the overall crime rate has dropped, started a homeless outreach program, a new downtown community engagement unit, a new training division has been created, officer training hours have doubled, two new K9’s have been added to the patrol division, the department has transitioned to the latest Taser model, the department has a fully-staff, crime victim unit, and the department earned advance reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) each year.

 

Kimble holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Liberty University and an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College. He graduated from the North Carolina State University’s Law Enforcement Executive Program in 2004, from the North Carolina Justice Academy’s Management Development Program in 2007, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Municipal/County Officer’s Course in 2011, from the Boston University’s Police Executive Research Forum/Senior Management Institute of Policing Class #48 in 2011, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Executive Leadership Institute in 2015, and from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Command College in 2016.
