The City of Killeen is planning its inaugural Independence Day celebration and fireworks show for Saturday, July 2 in downtown Killeen.
This event, which will last from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at East Avenue D and Gray Street, will be the first fourth of July celebration hosted by the city in decades. It promises to be worth the wait as the evening activities will conclude with one of the biggest fireworks show this area has ever seen.
The celebration will feature live music highlighted by country singer IMAJ, who is the daughter of 80s TV star Philip Michael Thomas, who played Tubbs on Miami Vice. The rising star singer has earned a loyal following in the Dallas area, and received accolades from Collin Raye, Leann Rimes and Dionne Warwick.
Also performing will be Roland & The Roots Riddim, a rock reggae band that has opened for Bob Marley’s band, and Puntin, a Houston-based hip hop and rap artist.
Arts and craft vendors and food trucks are still welcome to apply by visiting www.killeentexas.gov/downtownevents by June 18.
