[ARCHIVED] 6-20-18 Water Service to be off Saturday in Area of Zephyr Road and MLK

Scheduled outage in order to complete valve repair.

Water service will be unavailable Saturday from approximately 5 to 11 a.m. for properties in the following areas:

  • 1002-1210 Charisse Street
  • 3709-4314 Zephyr Road
  • 1303-1507 and 4311 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard
  • 1300-1501 Hammond Drive
  • 3702-4002 Peaks Drive
  • 1300-1502 Gowen Drive
  • 1301-1411 Flynn Street

Affected properties will be notified directly.

Once service is restored, affected residents must boil water until further notice.

City crews will be repairing valves that serve this area and must turn off water service in order to complete the work. The valves will be replaced, water lines will be flushed and bacteriological samples will be taken in accordance with Texas Administrative Code 290.47(h).

A BOIL WATER NOTICE is issued for properties at the above listed addresses beginning Saturday, June 23, at 5 a.m. Residents of these areas should boil all water prior to consumption until water sampling results confirm that no contamination occurred. Public notice will be issued when the notice is lifted.

TCEQ Required Notice:

Due to conditions caused by maintenance of the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the city of Killeen, PWS 0140006, to notify all customers in the above listed area to boil their water prior to consumption. Affected individuals were notified in person or with a notice hung on the door. A press release was issued and local news agencies were notified prior to the repair.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and for making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact the Water and Sewer Services help line at 254-501-6319.
