Residents of Killeen and Harker Heights can safely dispose of toxic household chemicals.
Killeen and Harker Heights residents are invited to participate in a free Household Chemical Collection event June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 S. W.S. Young Drive.
Accepted materials include paints, pesticides, herbicides, household cleaners, acids, automotive chemicals, batteries and fluorescent lamps.
Materials should be in original containers if possible and should be carefully loaded and secured for transport to prevent leakage or spillage. Residents are asked to stay in vehicles at the drop-off location while attendants unload materials for disposal.
Prohibited materials include tires, ammunition, explosives, medical waste, radioactive material and compressed gas cylinders. These items will not be accepted.
No materials from business, industry or agricultural operations will be accepted.
