[ARCHIVED] Lab says additional testing needed, TCEQ unable to lift Killeen boil water notice Wednesday night

Samples will be re-tested Thursday morning, clock resets for results

The City of Killeen has just received confirmation that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is not able to lift the city-wide boil water notice (BWN), pending a re-test of select samples.

Yesterday city officials announced that the first set of samples had been sent to a lab and results were expected after 9p.m. tonight. TCEQ would then have to approve lifting the BWN throughout the northeastern portion of the city only, following that 24-hour testing process.

With this latest information, TCEQ will not be able to provide an update to our city officials or the public until some samples are re-tested and returned. They have not provided a timeline, but the City will continue to update the public.

The City has been under a BWN since Oct. 19, after our daily and quarterly testing found chlorine residuals below TCEQ guidelines in samples taken from six of nine sites. Monthly testing also occurs regularly.

For a look at all 12 press releases the City has posted with information about this BWN, please visit our website at http://www.killeentexas.gov/civicalerts.aspx.
