KFD received more votes than KPD during August “Boots vs. Badges” event for a good cause
KILLEEN, Texas (Sept. 28, 2021) – The City of Killeen Police Department personnel will be washing vehicles of our Killeen Fire Department this Thursday, Sept. 30, following the City’s Battle of the Badges blood drive in August.
The City’s police (badges) and fire department (boots) partnered with Carter BloodCare to host the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on Aug. 12.
The public was invited to donate blood, then cast their vote for their favorite department—boots or badges. This year, the police department’s three-year winning streak was broken, as the fire department received more votes and won. The Police Department will now have to wash the company vehicles of the Fire Department this Thursday, Sept. 30 at Central Fire Station at 3p.m.
Of course, there’s no real “loser,” as both departments joined in the life-saving battle to help the community donate 55 units of blood, which can save about 150 lives.
We thank the community for their support and encourage everyone to continue to participate in future blood drives.
