City of Killeen municipal offices will remain closed Friday, February 19, due to inclement weather.
Emergency services continue to operate. Call volume is high, and road conditions are making response difficult. Please only call 9-1-1 in cases of actual emergency.
The City of Killeen remains in Stage 5 water restrictions due to demand exceeding reduced supply. Water usage should be limited to essential purposes only to conserve capacity and speed recovery. Because of the water shortage, many customers have experienced reduced water pressure and loss of services. As a precaution, customers who have experienced low water pressure and/or no water service should boil all water prior to consumption.
The City’s Water Division is receiving a high volume of calls reporting water outages. The majority of these cases are related to frozen pipes on homeowner’s private property. If your pipes are frozen, please email wsoperations@killeentexas.gov or call 254-501-6320. The City will send a crew to shut off water at the meter. It is important to do this before lines start to thaw to minimize water damage to your home and prevent the unnecessary loss of water.
City utility customers needing to make due and past due payments are advised to do so by phone at 254-220-4183. In person payments will resume February 22.
Road conditions will not allow safe collection of residential trash, so all collections have been cancelled for the week. Normal collections will resume Monday, February 22. Excess bagged trash may be placed curbside on your regular collection day next week to be picked up without additional charge.
The City Council Workshops scheduled Thursday, February 18, have been rescheduled to Monday, February 22 beginning at 5 p.m.
Emergency warming stations remain open. Liberty Christian Center, 4107 Westcliff Road, is available for those seeking temporary relief from cold. Skyline Baptist Church, 906 Trimmier Road, is currently at capacity.
