[ARCHIVED] Killeen Parks and Recreation Announces BNSF Railway as Friend of the Park Sponsor

Community-focused partnership supports annual Killeen parks programs.

KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 6, 2026) – The City of Killeen Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a new community partnership with BNSF Railway, designating BNSF as a Friend of the Park Sponsor. Under the one-year agreement, BNSF Railway has committed to a one-time contribution of $11,500.

The Parks and Recreation Department is grateful for BNSF’s support and shared commitment to enhancing recreational spaces for residents and visitors alike. The sponsorship will be used to support park programs, community events, and improvements that help make Killeen’s parks vibrant places for families, neighbors and all who enjoy the outdoors.

“We are thrilled to welcome BNSF Railway as a Friend of the Park Sponsor,” said Antonio Murphy, Executive Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Killeen. “Their generosity will have a meaningful impact on the quality of life in our community and reflects the spirit of partnership that strengthens Killeen.”

BNSF Railway, one of North America’s leading freight transportation companies, operates a vast rail network and prides itself on being a positive force in the communities it serves. In addition to its core business of transporting goods across 28 states and three Canadian provinces, BNSF Railway engages in community support efforts that enhance economic health, quality of life and volunteer engagement where its employees live and work. Through the BNSF Railway Foundation and other community initiatives, BNSF has contributed significantly to local programs and projects nationwide.

“As a long-standing partner in communities across the country, BNSF Railway is honored to support the City of Killeen’s Parks and Recreation Department,” said Lindsay Mullins, Executive Director Public Affairs of BNSF Railway. “We believe in strengthening the places where our neighbors live, work and play, and are proud to help support the City of Killeen’s commitment to quality parks and public spaces.”

This sponsorship underscores the shared vision of both organizations to foster community engagement, healthy lifestyles, and accessible public amenities for all ages.
