Three personnel returned from deployment to southern California on Jan. 27
KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 30, 2025) – Three Killeen Fire personnel will hold a press conference on Friday, Jan. 31 at 11a.m., following a two-week deployment to Los Angeles County where they assisted crews with wildfire coverage. It will be held at the Central Fire Station training center (201 South 28th Street).
Killeen Firefighters Jason Wuest, Marcus Stillwell and Chris Poston deployed on Jan. 11 and returned Jan. 27, after assisting with a tragedy that caused 200,000 people to be placed on evacuation orders in Los Angeles County.
The team, along with Assistant Fire Chief, Keith Foxx, will be available to answer media questions and talk about their experience.
The KFD team deployed to LA to staff a fire engine as a part of an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request, which is a part of a national mutual aid system connected with the Texas Division of Emergency Management agency.
National news outlets report that on Jan. 7, at least four major wildfires began to burn across Los Angeles County and at least 28 people did not survive.
