Residents in this unincorporated Municipal Utility District area have no known ambulance service
KILLEEN, Texas (Dec. 18, 2024) – The City of Killeen wants to ensure the public and potential residents of the Turnbo Ranch subdivision located outside the official city limits are aware that although their addresses are listed as “Killeen,” the current and future homes totaling 2,700+ are not within the city limits and, therefore, do NOT pay City property taxes. As a result, there are no City-provided emergency services available for that neighborhood, including FIRE, AMBULANCE and POLICE.
The Turnbo Ranch community borders the southeast part of town along the 36-hundred block of Chaparral Road and falls within the Bell County Municipal Utility District No. 2 (M.U.D. #2). The City of Killeen has entered into an agreement to provide specific municipal services (water/wastewater), while other essential services are managed by separate entities (emergency services, including fire and police assistance). No known ambulance service is currently available.
We want to make sure citizens are aware of this before they purchase a home in this area, so there’s no confusion. The alternative essential services are listed below and we want to clarify that response times may vary and be longer than expected, due to the location of and resources available from those entities.
