Complex will house Fire Station No. 4
KILLEEN, Texas (May 1, 2024) – The city of Killeen will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Killeen Fire Department’s new Fire Station No. 4 & Emergency Operations Center at 9132 Trimmier Road on Wednesday, May 8, at 3 p.m.
The new facility is being built to accommodate population growth, improve emergency response times, modernize equipment and technology, ensure adequate coverage for underserved areas and prioritize community safety.
The Emergency Operation Center was approved by the Killeen City Council as part of the fiscal year (FY) 2022 Capital Improvement Plan, using $11.9 million from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, and Fire Station 4 was approved as part of the FY 2023 Capital Improvement Plan, using $5.7M in ARPA funds. City Council approved a bid by MW Builders in February 2024 to complete the project.
The new location will come fully equipped with a lobby, dorm, kitchen, break room, fitness center, office spaces, apparatus bays, training classrooms, conference room and an emergency operations center.
“We’re excited to announce this needed facility for our firefighters, and we hope you’ll come celebrate with us,” Fire Chief Jim Kubinski said. ““We're not just building a structure, we’re fortifying our commitment to the safety and well being of our community. This station symbolizes our dedication to swift responses and unwavering protection, reinforcing our promise to serve with courage, compassion, and unwavering resolve.”
