[ARCHIVED] 11-9-18 CDBG and HOME Grant Workshop Schedule Announced

New training will aid in applying for federal funding for community improvement programs.

Businesses, non-profit and for-profit organizations may qualify for federal funding for programs and projects that benefit low-income residents in Killeen. The City’s Community Development Department is hosting a series of workshops to assist organizations in submitting successful applications for funding in the Fiscal Year 2019 cycle.

Killeen Grants…Apply Within consists of four workshops that will help applicants understand whether they and their programs or projects qualify for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) or HOME Program funding and how to submit correct and complete applications.

Training is intended for new applicants, those who have not received funding in the past five years and those who have been unsuccessful in previous applications. It is free but limited to 36 participants.

Participants should attend all four workshops to complete the series. The schedule is as follows:

November  19

8:30 a.m.   -  11:30 a.m.

     What’s Your Type and Status?

November  28

2:30 p.m.  -   6:00 p.m.

     The “Official” Official Documents

December  05

2:30 p.m.  -   6:00 p.m.

     Your Purpose - Your Goal

December  10

     Completing an Application for Funding

Workshops will take place in the Community Development Department Training Room, Building E, room E105, at Killeen Arts & Activities Center, 802 N. 2nd Street.

The City of Killeen receives an allocation from the federal government each year based on a formula that includes a number of social factors such as population, extent of poverty and community need. CDBG and HOME funding can generally be used for the benefit of low- to moderate-income persons and families through decent, affordable and accessible housing, serving vulnerable populations and creating jobs.

Advance registration for the series of workshops is required by calling 501-7845. More information about these and other Community Development programs is available at killeentexas.gov/apply.
