Parade entry deadline also extended to Friday, Nov. 17
The City of Killeen’s Parks & Recreation Department has three holiday activities to announce, including the annual Toy Drive, Letters to Santa, and the annual House Decorating Contest.
The Junior Youth Advisory Commission is running the toy drive, and is collecting new and unused gifts for those in need for the upcoming holiday season. Gifts will be accepted through Dec. 3 and can be dropped off as the Family Recreation Center (1700 East Stan Schlueter Loop) or City Hall (101 North College Street).
Youth are encouraged to write their letters to Santa this year and our elves will make sure they are delivered to Santa. Letters can be taken to the Family Recreation Center from Nov. 20 through Dec. 13.
Killeen residents are also encouraged to sign up for our Outdoor Decorating Contest. Residents and businesses can enter their decorations from Nov. 27 through Dec. 8 by completing an application at www.KilleenTexas.gov/rec. All photos/applications must be received by Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. and voting will begin Dec. 9 and run through Dec. 13.
In addition to these three events the Parks and Recreation Department has extended the deadline for Christmas Parade entries to Friday, Nov. 17. The parade will be held in Downtown Killeen on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. The parade is part of our Holiday Under the Stars celebration with a “Let it Glow” theme.
