KILLEEN, Texas (October 12, 2023) – Killeen Firefighters were called to the 1100 block of Patriotic Street at 6:08p.m. to a report of a house fire.
The first Fire Department unit arrived on scene within three minutes and reported heavy fire coming from a room at the front of a single-story, residential structure.
Units began an aggressive, fire attack and initiated an immediate search for any potential occupants inside of the building. No occupants were found, and it was determined that one adult one child and two dogs safely evacuated the building prior to the arrival of Fire Department units.
The two occupants were treated for minor injuries on the scene and did not require transport to the hospital. No firefighters were injured during operations at the scene. The residence was deemed uninhabitable and occupants were assisted on scene with relocation needs.
The fire was brought under control within 13 minutes of arrival on the scene and units continued performing salvage and overhaul operations for an additional hour.
The Killeen Fire Department Fire Marshal’s office investigators were on the scene and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The general alarm assignment consisted of three engines, one ladder truck, one heavy rescue vehicle, one ambulance, two battalion chiefs and two EMS captains.
The Killeen Fire department was assisted by the Killeen Police Department, Killeen Building Inspections, Killeen Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and Oncor.
