Victim's Assistance

It is the mission of Crime Victim Services to provide victim-centered, assessable services regarding rights, assistance with financial and emotional crisis as a result of crime, and to promote victims being treated with fairness, dignity, and compassion.

Victims of crime are afforded certain rights under Texas law. These rights include, but are not limited to, the right to protection, information, notification, to be heard, to participate in the criminal justice system, and to seek financial remedies.  KPD Victim Rights and Information Booklet

Crime Vic­tims’ Com­pen­sa­tion Program

The Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) Program helps crime victims and their immediate families with the financial costs of crime. CVC covers crime-related costs such as counseling, medical treatment, funerals, and loss of income not paid by other sources.

Create a Safety Plan

A safety plan is a set of actions that can help lower your risk of being hurt by your partner. It includes information specific to you and your life that can increase your safety at home, school, and public places.

VINE – Victim Notification 

VINE is a free service that allows victims of crime and other concerned citizens to anonymously check an offender’s custody status by phone, website, or mobile app. You can also register to receive automated notifications about changes in custody status.
