The City of Killeen supports programming in Central Texas through an AmeriCorps grants that supports community preparedness and education.

Equal Heart is recruiting individuals to serve as AmeriCorps members to reduce hunger, provide engagement for youth, promote job readiness, and support environmental education. In exchange for their service, AmeriCorps Members receive a bi-weekly living allowance and an end-of-term education award.

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

✔ Available for the entire duration of the program

✔ 17 years old or older by program start date

 City of Killeen OHSEM AmeriCorps Member (QT) serving 25 hours a week (Feb 6th-Jun 24th)

This position can begin as early as January 23, 2023
 
 AmeriCorps Members serve within the City of Killeen Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (OHSEM). AmeriCorps Members serve under the Senior Emergency Management Specialist of Preparedness in support of disaster preparedness education and training in the Killeen community. This opportunity focuses on educating the community on disaster preparedness. The AmeriCorps Member will coordinate and provide resources for our daily preparedness operations.
 
Community Outreach and Education Tasks:
 • Assist in the development of preparedness education and training, including social media outreach and print documents.
 • Attend events and training related to disaster preparedness.
 • Conduct surveys and other measurable activities to help better inform disaster preparedness planning.
 • Lead presentations and outreach efforts through canvassing, and partnerships with local businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations. For the purpose of increasing the communities ability to be prepared to respond to any emergency situations.

This location requires a service commitment of 450 hours.
 
Benefits include
   Living Allowance of $4,500.00
   Education Award of $1,718.25.

City of Killeen OHSEM AmeriCorps Member (RHT) serving 36 hours a week (Feb 6th-Jun 24th)

This position can begin as early as January 23, 2023
