Adoption Fees:

Sterilized pets: $40 and
Non-sterilized pets: $25.

Adoption hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Saturday.

Impound Release Fees*

Redemption Impound Fees
1st redemption: Your pet must be spayed or neutered within 30 days $30
2nd redemption $40
3rd and any subsequent redemptions $100
A $15 boarding fee applies for each night of a pet's stay. The boarding fee is in addition to the impound fee $15

To surrender a pet to Killeen Animal Services, you MUST be a resident of Killeen or Fort Hood. If this does not apply to you, please inquire with the shelter in your jurisdiction. KAS accepts pet relinquishments every Wednesday, and an appointment is required. Please call the shelter directly at 254-526-4455 for information on how to schedule an intake appointment. We urge all pet owners to utilize the shelter as a last resort, as adoption placement is not guaranteed.

Miscellaneous Fees

  • Breeder license (only two litters allowed per year, per household): $250 per animal listed on the permit
  • Owner requested euthanasia fee: $50, and applicable cremation fees are as follows:
  • Cremation
    • 0 to 30 pounds: $40
    • 31 to 60 pounds: $60
    • 61 to 90 pounds: $80
    • 91 pounds and over: $100
  • Live traps (the deposit is refunded approximately 30 days after the return of the trap)
    • Live trap deposit - large: Cost of trap*
    • Live trap deposit - small/medium: $50.00*
  • Microchip: $15
  • Quarantine boarding: $35 per day
  • Redemption, 1st occurrence: $30
  • Redemption, 2nd occurrence: $40
  • Redemption, 3rd+ occurrence: $100
  • Redemption boarding fee: $15 per overnight stay
  • Intake vaccinations: $15.00*
  • Leashes: $1.00*
