KILLEEN, Texas (April 3, 2025) – The City of Killeen is hosting the 2025 Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 26. The event will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery (11463 State Highway 195) at 9a.m.
Gen. James E. Rainey will be the keynote speaker and is the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Futures Command, headquartered in Austin. He is responsible for transforming the Army to ensure future combat readiness, employing 30,000 soldiers and civilians at 128 locations worldwide.
The community is invited to join us as we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Participants and community partners include the Fort Cavazos 1st Cavalry Division and band, the Area Veterans Advisory Committee (AVAC) and the Texas Veterans Land Board.
Veteran and civic organizations are welcome to participate in the wreath laying ceremony. Interested participants are asked to contact the Area Veterans Advisory Committee at (254) 702-0465 no later than Friday, May 9 to register their organization. Those who are posting tier colors and wreaths must arrive no later than 8:30a.m. AVAC’s website is www.centex-avac.org.
Mayor Debbie Nash-King will provide remarks and the event will include a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps.
