City of Killeen to Open City Facilities with Delayed Start Tuesday, Jan. 27

KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 26, 2026) – City of Killeen officials announced that City Hall and all city facilities will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, with a delayed start time of 10 a.m. to allow for safer travel following recent winter weather.

All city operations will resume at 10 a.m., including:

· City Hall and administrative offices

· Killeen Public Libraries, including the Killeen Main Library and Copper Mountain Branch Library

· First National Bank Texas Family Recreation Center, including gyms, leagues and other scheduled Parks and Recreation activities

· Lions Club Park Senior Center

· Killeen Animal Services

· Killeen Code Enforcement and Permits

· Municipal Court

Solid Waste Services Update

Residential trash collection will resume once conditions are deemed safe and will shift by one day. Monday routes will run Tuesday, with a possible late start depending on road conditions. Tuesday routes will run Wednesday. Thursday and Friday routes will operate as scheduled.

Killeen Public Library Programming

All programming scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Killeen Public Library and Copper Mountain Branch Library has been canceled. Regular programming will resume Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Stonetree Golf Club

Stonetree Golf Club will remain closed Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Central Texas Veterans Cemetery

The Central Texas Veterans Cemetery will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Warming Centers

Both warming centers will operate until 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27. Locations include:

· Friends in Crisis, 412 E. Sprott St.

· Killeen Arts and Activities Center, 801 N. Fourth St., Suite B

Killeen Regional Airport (GRK)

American Airlines has delayed the first departing flight from Killeen Regional Airport (GRK) until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Flight schedules are subject to change, and travelers are encouraged to monitor their flight status directly with the airline at aa.com.

Essential public safety services will continue operating as usual. City officials will continue monitoring weather and road conditions and will provide updates through official city communication channels. Residents may sign up for emergency and city alerts at www.killeentexas.gov/notifyme.
