The City of Killeen has officially opened applications for the 2026 Killeen Citizens Academy.
This free, eight-week course will take place every Thursday from January 15 to March 12, 2026, between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. The program is designed to give citizens insight into how municipalities operate, with the goal of enhancing civic engagement and contributing to a better Killeen. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the various departments and functions of city government.
Classes are held once a week over the eight-week period, culminating in a graduation ceremony on March 12, 2026. Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, December 10, or until the program reaches capacity. In March 2025, 25 students successfully completed the program and celebrated their achievements at a ceremony held at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.
Since its inception in 2014, the Killeen Citizens Academy has provided a platform for participants to interact with elected officials and city staff, gaining an inside look at how the city operates. Those who are interested can apply at KilleenTexas.gov/KCA.
