KILLEEN, Texas (August 14, 2025) – Killeen Animal Services is participating in the national campaign, Clear the Shelters, throughout August to promote pet adoption. During this period, all adoption fees will be waived to encourage residents to adopt pets.
So far, 74 animals have been adopted through the program, with hopes for even more success by the end of the month. The initiative aims to help animals find their forever homes and make it more accessible for families to adopt.
In addition to the Clear the Shelters campaign, Killeen Animal Services has teamed up with nearby shelters for a month-long competition called the Central Texas Shelter Showdown, involving Lampasas Animal Shelter, Hill Country Humane Society, and Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. The showdown will wrap up with a huge adoption event on Saturday, August 23, at noon, at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter located at 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626.
“We are thrilled to be part of Clear the Shelters and the Central Texas Shelter Showdown,” said Amanda Moore, Killeen Animal Shelter Manager. “Our goal is to find loving homes for as many animals as possible, and by waiving adoption fees, we hope to make it easier for families to bring a new pet into their lives.”
