Positions open for Killeen students in grades 4th through 12th.
Applications are being accepted for Killeen Youth Advisory Commission, and area students are encouraged to apply.
The Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) mission is to provide opportunities for youth in our community to create effective change through volunteerism and service. Members develop leadership skills, improve our community and earn volunteer hours.
Past YAC projects have included signature events like the annual Youth Conference, the Special Needs Dance, and Off the Record. The group has also supported City holiday events, clean-up events and other community improvement efforts.
YAC is made up of 37 commissioners in grades 8th through 12th, who are appointed by Killeen City Council. Commissioners must be Killeen residents and are required to attend YAC meetings twice per month, complete 100 or more volunteer service hours per year and attend four City Council meetings.
Resource Members are accepted from grades 8th through 12th and are required to attend YAC meetings.
Junior YAC Members are accepted from Killeen students in grades 4th through 7th. Members must attend Junior YAC meetings twice per month.
Completed applications for all positions are due by September 9. Commissioner interviews to be conducted September 12 and 19. Appointments for the 2020-2021 YAC will be made by City Council in October.
Applications are available online at KilleenTexas.gov/YACapp and are accepted year-round.
