Councilmembers voted to schedule a fiscal year 2024 budget discussion for public transparency, clarity
KILLEEN, Texas (Aug. 9, 2023) – The City of Killeen councilmembers will hold a Town Hall on the proposed fiscal year 2024 budget at City Hall (101 North College Street) on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 5p.m.
The council wants to give citizens every opportunity to learn what’s in the proposed budget, ask questions and provide feedback. Council members and the City’s executive directors from each department will be in attendance to provide further transparency and clarity on all aspects of the proposed budget.
City Manager, Kent Cagle first presented the proposed budget to Council during the July 11 Council meeting.
A public hearing on the proposed budget was held on Aug. 1. Council will decide if a second public hearing is necessary and, if so, that will be held on Sept. 5. The new budget is scheduled to be adopted on Sept. 12. On that date, a Tax Rate Public Hearing is also scheduled and Council will vote on adoption of ratifying the revenue increase and setting the tax rate.
