City partners with National Mounted Warrior Museum to feature veterans who have served at Fort Cavazos or lived in area
The City of Killeen is again partnering with the National Mounted Warrior Museum to feature up to 60 military veterans in an effort to highlight Hometown Heroes throughout November.
The banners will be displayed in Historic Downtown in November, and is part of an effort to honor local active-duty, retired or those veterans who have served at Fort Cavazos at any time.
This is the second year the banners will be hung, as the initiative started in 2022, with more than 40 banners being hung.
Submissions for Hometown Heroes can be sent to the National Mounted Warrior Museum by relatives, friends or the servicemembers. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 30 and only 60 will be accepted this year.
