KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 31, 2023) - The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Storm Warning in our area, prompting all City of Killeen facilities to be closed again on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
Widespread icing on bridges and overpasses, as well as surface streets is expected, with travel being significantly impacted.
More widespread freezing rain and sleet is expected today, with significant accumulations of ice expected. Road conditions will steadily deteriorate.
Street Closures:
- WS Young Bridge from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Atkinson Avenue is CLOSED
- ALL overpasses and bridges are being reported as icy and slick
- Lots of slick spots on surface roads around the area
Please drive safely, and only go out on the roads if you absolutely must travel.
Warming Center:
A reminder, the City of Killeen has partnered with the Moss Rose Center to open a warming center.

Trash Collection:
Tuesday routes have moved to Thursday; Thursday routes will move to Friday; and Friday routes will move to Saturday. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time.
