City of Killeen works with community partners for more rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations

Partners include KISD, the Bell County Public Health District and the Texas Military Department

KILLEEN, Texas (Nov. 17, 2021) – For the second week, the City of Killeen is partnering with the Killeen Independent School District, the Bell County Public Health District, and the Texas Military Department to provide free COVID-19 rapid testing, as well as the Pfizer vaccine to the general public, including those five years of age and up.

The COVID-19 vaccination site is located at the former Nolan Middle School (505 E. Jasper Drive, Killeen) for seven more weeks, with the next opportunity being this Thursday and Friday, Nov. 18 and 19 from 10a.m. - 8p.m. During Thanksgiving week, the clinic will be up and running on Nov. 22 and 23. The full list of dates are on the accompanying flyer, with the last scheduled opportunity being Dec. 28.

No appointments are necessary, but consent and immunization forms can be found on KISD’s website.

As we approach the holiday season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourages everyone to minimize their COVID-19 risk by getting tested, vaccinated, wearing a mask, washing hands and avoiding crowded indoor areas, so everyone can gather, celebrate and enjoy the holidays safely.

The City of Killeen hosted a free drive-thru clinic for COVID-19 testing and vaccines from Aug. 19 – Nov. 4, 2021. During that period, the City administered more than 2,200 vaccines and more than 9,700 tests.

The Bell County Public Health District also provides vaccines for all approved ages and began offering the COVID-19 vaccine to youth ages 5-11 years old last week. That service continues on Tuesdays only during their immunization clinic at their Killeen office (309 N. 2nd Street). More information can be found at bellcountyhealth.org

As a reminder, residents are asked to text their zip code to GETVAX (438829) for a list of nearby locations to receive the COVID-19 vaccine shot. Each person is also sent information about free childcare and getting a ride to a vaccination location. Residents may also call the connected hotline at (800) 232-0233 for the same information.
