Municipal Election 2019

City Council district seats will be elected May 4, 2019. Here you will find all information for the 2019 Municipal Election.

Election Calendar

January 29 - Regular meeting to call election.

January 16 - FIRST DAY for filing applications for place on general election ballot; first day for write-in candidate to submit declaration.

January 21 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – City of Killeen offices will be closed.

February 15 - LAST DAY for filing application for place on ballot for election; must be received in City Secretary’s office by 5:00 pm.

February 19 - Last day for filing as a write-in candidate in election.

February 21 - Date for drawing of candidate names for ballot position (9:00 am in Main Conference Room, City Hall).

February 22 - Last day for ballot candidate to withdraw in order to be omitted from ballot; must be received in City Secretary’s office by 5:00 pm (same day for write-ins)

April 4 - Deadline for opposed candidates to file first Pre-election report of contributions and expenditures; due in City Secretary’s office by 5:00 pm.

April 22 - First day for early voting by personal appearance

April 22 - Extended hours of early voting (7:00 am to 7:00 pm).

April 30 - Extended hours of early voting (7:00 am to 7:00 pm).

April 26 - Deadline for opposed candidates to file their second Pre-election report of contributions and expenditures; due in City Secretary’s office by 5:00 pm.

April 30 - Last day for early voting by personal appearance.

May 4 - Election Day. City Hall will be open at 7:00 am.

May 14 - Council meeting - to consider an ordinance canvassing results of election returns [date/type of meeting depends on receipt of provisional ballots].

July 15 - Deadline for all candidates and officeholders to file their semiannual report of contributions and expenditures, due in City Secretary’s office by 5:00 pm.
