The City of Killeen Solid Waste Division provides municipal garbage collection, disposal and container services for all residential and commercial establishments in Killeen.
The Solid Waste Division is divided into five operations:
Residential Services
The City of Killeen provides once per week residential garbage collection to approximately 47,000 households. Customers can choose from 96 gallon, 64 gallon, or 32 gallon containers. Pickup is provided using automated equipment that grasps the container and lifts and empties the container into the collection truck. This type of system is faster, more efficient, and safer for employees.
Commercial Services
The City of Killeen provides garbage collection for commercial customers. Customers can select from a variety of dumpster container sizes and frequency of pickup. Call (254) 501-7785 for more information on commercial services.
Recycling Services
The Killeen Recycling Center provides an opportunity for citizens and commercial businesses to participate in a community recycling program. The city also offers curbside recycling collection to residential customers through a subscription service. The cost is $2.48 per month. Call (254) 501-7785 for details.
Transfer Station
The transfer station is the central receiving and transfer point for solid waste generated by the City of Killeen. Residential customers are allowed to use the transfer station for excess garbage up to 300 pounds per month. Any weight over 300 pounds per month will be charged to the customer at the current per 100 pound rate.
Accounting
The Accounting Division is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the Solid Waste Fund in compliance with City fiscal policies and procedures. The division provides customer service for the Solid Waste Division handling approximately 95,000 customer contacts annually. It inputs and processes solid waste charges, container/component information, and customer requests. Accounting processes accounts payable, accounts receivable, assimilates data, prepares various financial reports, and monitors internal controls.

Killeen Solid Waste reminds you to bag your trash. Placing your trash in trash bags before placing it in your trash can or dumpster will keep your container cleaner and prevent loose trash from littering your neighborhood.
Trash that is secured in a trash bag can make it safely into the garbage truck without the risk of loose debris blowing about.
Help the City of Killeen dispose of your trash neatly to keep your city clean. Bag your trash.
Solid Waste Pickup, including Residential Garbage pickup does not change through the year and during holidays. The Solid Waste Department operates on a normal weekly schedule, regardless of city government offices' work schedule.
This means, we pick up your garbage every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, regardless whether it is a holiday or not.
Used Compact Florescent Lamps (CFL) are accepted by Home Depot for proper recycling.
