The Texas Department of Transportation acknowledged the acceptance and completion of the City’s US Highway 190/ FM 2410 project Wednesday. Acceptance of the project shifts maintenance responsibility to the state and continues state reimbursement payments to the City. “City Council and staff had a vision of this project in 2008 and construction began in 2013,” Public Works Director David Olson said. “It is a proud day for all of us at the City of Killeen to see years of hard work come to fruition. This project has helped improve daily commutes for our citizens and helped alleviate congestion in heavily traveled areas.” The project was part of TxDOT’s Pass-Through Finance Program designed to deliver transportation improvements to the region. The program allowed the City to advance fund the project to accomplish it sooner and be reimbursed by the state over time.
