The annual Texas Waterway Cleanup is scheduled Saturday, March 2, and Keep Killeen Beautiful is asking individuals and groups to help Killeen Up! the creek.
Participants will meet at 8 a.m. in the Killeen Walmart parking lot at 1400 Lowe’s Boulevard.
Every year, Keep Killeen Beautiful cleans Lowe’s Boulevard Creek. Volunteers gather for a group photo and to pick up supplies before spreading out along the banks of the creek to remove cigarette butts, plastic bags, and other litter.
The Texas Waterway Cleanup, an initiative of Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, encourages communities to improve and maintain the quality of our state’s waterways. Volunteers all across Texas come together to clean up polluted waterways in their local communities.
